– Timber Frame Addition –

This timber frame addition to the south facing side of this vintage rancher added drama to both the house and the site.  The views overlooking the one acre pond and orchards are enhanced by creating an outdoor kitchen off this newly vaulted family room.  A glass roof extends the outdoor use while weatherproofing the detailed Douglas fir beams and provides streaming daylight into the sanctum of the home.  The massive gable breaks up the long horizontal lines of the rancher, giving the rear of the home as much dominance as the front.  Vertical board and batten siding was used to finish the wood façade and, again, helps reduce the horizontal effect.
